Course of Marine Policy and Management

Further to the age long problems such as the deterioration of marine environment and depletion of fishery resources, competitive situations are emerging in the waters around Japan, concerning their multilateral use by fisheries, coastal development and recreational activities. To address these problems, which are not to be solved with ad hoc measures, and threats posed by maritime terrorism on top of this, it is absolutely necessary to formulate a policy for the integrated and systematic research, utilization and management of the ocean.
